Care and Maintenance
Warning: The Orb is under pressure when in use. Do not overpack. Ensure proper closure for safe use. Failure to follow instructions may result in injury and damage.
- Never heat Orb One when empty. This can damage multiple components of the coffeemaker and render its use unsafe.
- Hand wash only. Cleaning the Orb One in a dishwasher may damage your unit and render its use unsafe.
- Clean handle with a damp cloth and immediately wipe dry.
- Avoid exposing the handle to excessive sunlight or prolonged water contact. These can damage the wood and its finish. Scratches in the handle can be resealed with food safe mineral oil. Avoid using furniture polish, cleaners or dusting sprays that contain silicone, alcohol, ammonia, or are acid based.
- Preventing mineral deposit buildup is important to ensure that the pressure relief valve continues to work properly.
- To remove built up mineral deposits, fill the boiler with a 50% solution of vinegar and water. Let the solution act for 10 minutes, scrub with a soft brush, and rinse. Repeat as needed and rinse thoroughly before use.
- Before each use, inspect the Orb One for signs of wear or damage, especially on the locking tabs of the base and the lid. Do not use if the locking mechanism has been damaged.
- Before each use, inspect the basket to ensure the filter holes are not blocked. This is visible against a small source of bright light such as a mobile phone flash light.
- Before each use, inspect the heatsink to ensure the holes are not blocked. This is visible against a light. If necessary, clear the holes by running water, blowing air, or with a thin wire.
