Whiskey Sour

The harsh burn of whiskey combined with the sharp acidity of lemon juice can sometimes cause the classic Whiskey Sour to be a bit biting. Here, these flavors are softened with the inclusion of an egg white, which smooths out the sharper corners of this cocktail and adds a pleasant, creamy texture.

First, make sure you've got the right tools for the job:

Next, let's make something delicious!

  • 2 oz whiskey
  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice, strained to remove any pulp and seeds
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 dash Angostura Aromatic Bitters

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Dry shake until frothy. Add ice and shake again vigorously until chilled and diluted, then double-strain into a chilled coupe glass. Add 5 drops Angostura bitters in a circle onto the surface of the cocktail. Drag a tasting straw or toothpick through the drops to create a swirled florette pattern.
