Inside the Porthole:
- 1 medium-sized ginger root, peeled and sliced into thin matchsticks
- peel from 1 lime, pith removed, sliced into broad strips
Liquid to be Added:
- juice of 1 lime
- 1¼ oz (37 ml) maple syrup
- 10 oz rye whiskey
To Assemble and Serve:
Arrange the infusion ingredients inside the Porthole. Close the Porthole, tighten screw, and check the seal for good contact on both sides.
Next, combine the liquid ingredients, and transfer this mixture into the assembled Porthole through the spout.
This cocktail is best when infused at least 30 minutes, up to 6 hours.
Tips:
- This infusion can be served simply over ice, or topped with chilled sparkling or tonic water for some extra snazz.
- Experiment to make this your own! Other good spirits to try include rums (both aged and unaged) or bourbon.
